Carfizzi (in the local Albanian dialect Karfici ) is an Italian city in the province of Crotone in Calabria with 552 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).
Location and dates
Carfizzi is 44 km northwest of Crotone on the foothills of the Sila Mountains . Carfizzi is the smallest municipality in the province of Crotone. The neighboring municipalities are Cirò , Melissa , Pallagorio , San Nicola dell'Alto and Umbriatico .
The place is characterized by agriculture. Olive oil, grain and animal feed are produced.
history
The place was founded in the 15th century by refugee Albanians. The Arbëresh culture is still alive today.
