Pallagorio (in Arbëresh , IPA : [ ar'bəreʃ ] : Puhëriu ) is a southern Italian municipality in the province of Crotone in Calabria with 1062 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).

Location and dates

The municipality is about 40 kilometers northwest of Crotone and borders directly on the province of Cosenza . The neighboring municipalities are Campana , Carfizzi , Casabona , San Nicola dell'Alto , Umbriatico and Verzino .

history

It is possible that Pallagorio was originally the Chone der Konier settlement . The settlement was part of Magna Graecia early on .

The Arbëresh established itself around 1448 as Albanian mercenaries after the fighting on the side of the King of Naples, Alfonso I settled here.
