Nick Viergever (born August 3, 1989 in Capelle aan den IJssel ) is a Dutch football player who has been under contract with PSV Eindhoven in the Eredivisie since July 2018 .

Club career

Sparta Rotterdam

Viergever made his Eredivisie debut for Sparta Rotterdam on May 10, 2009 against NEC Nijmegen . In his second season he became one of the team's key players.

AZ Alkmaar

On June 16, 2010 Viergever signed a contract with AZ Alkmaar . Here he became a key player and captain over the years. In the 2013/14 season he was voted best left-back in the group stage of the Europa League by UEFA .

Ajax Amsterdam

2014/15

On May 24, 2014 the transfer of Viergever from AZ to Ajax Amsterdam was announced. He made his debut for the club on August 3, 2014 in the Johan Cruijff Schaal game against PEC Zwolle . Viergever left the game with an injury in the 39th minute and Ajax lost 1-0. A week later, in his league debut for Ajax, he scored his first goal. Viergever was mainly a substitute player in his first season.

2015/16

Viergever was often on the bench at the start of the new season, but due to the injuries of regular players he formed the new central duo in Ajax's defense with Mike van der Hoorn after the winter break at the beginning of 2016 .

2016/17

On April 20, 2017 Viergever scored the decisive 3: 1 against FC Schalke 04 in the extension of the quarter-finals of the Europa League and thus reached the semi-finals of the competition together with his team.

National team

On August 15, 2012 Viergever made his debut in the Dutch national team against Belgium . He played his second game against Italy in Amsterdam on March 28, 2017.
