In 1999 he came to BK Frem København , where he played in youth until summer 2005 and was then pulled up to the first team. His first professional game against Fremad Amager followed on July 31 . In October 2005 he signed a two-year contract, but was negotiating with the English clubs Newcastle United and Portsmouth FC just a month later . Although he did not see himself as a regular player, he completed all 38 games in the 2005/06 season in which he scored four goals.

In September 2006 he moved to the Italian club Reggina Calcio . On November 8th, he scored a goal in his debut game at the Coppa Italia . On November 19, he played his first game in Serie A , at the end of the 2006/07 season there were a total of seven. He also played for Reggina's youth team, scoring two goals in two games against AC Milan in the Albo d'Oro Primavera . Under the new coach Massimo Ficcadenti , he could not fight for a regular place with the Calabrians, so he switched to two teams from the C1 series , namely AC Martina and AS Lucchese Libertas, on loan . Both clubs went bankrupt during his presence and, according to his agent, Reggina Calcio no longer paid him any wages. He then decided not to sue for his salary and terminated the contract, which was dated June 2009. In addition, he had to serve an eight-week suspension after receiving a red card for Lucchese.

In August 2008 he returned to Denmark and trained at FC Nordsjælland . On September 18, the Dansk Boldspil Union decided to help him regain control of his football career. His suspension expired on matchday nine, despite not signing with any club, which made him available to FC Nordsjælland in October. A week later he signed his contract. In his first season he played nine games and was a replacement for striker Martin Bernburg . When Bernburg was sold in the 2009/10 season, Nielsen took his regular seat, played 32 games and scored eight goals. He was also part of the team that won the 2010 Danish Cup .

In September 2010 moved to the Spanish club Villarreal and signed a four-year contract. At first he was only used in the B team, in his first game he scored two goals in a 5-1 win over SD Ponferradina . On February 5, 2011 he got the chance to make his debut in the senior team. For the 2011/12 season he was awarded for one year to FC Elche in the Segunda División . He made his debut on August 28 in a 4-1 victory over FC Girona . For the 2012/13 season, Bille was loaned from Villarreal FC to the Madrid first division team Rayo Vallecano .

In early January 2013 Nielsen moved to the Norwegian first division club Rosenborg Trondheim . He signed a four-year contract until the end of December 2016.
