Nico Kurz (born January 31, 1997 in Hanau ) is a German darts player who takes part in tournaments of the Professional Darts Corporation and PDC Europe , but without having a PDC tour card.
Personal
Kurz's parents, Holger Kurz and Sabine Lisch , were both German e-dart masters in their classes.
Kurz works full-time as an industrial mechanic and is a fan of Eintracht Frankfurt.
Career
Kurz started darts in 2014. In 2016 he qualified for the Super League , but with 12th place in the table could not qualify for the final round. In the further course of the year Kurz played his first tournaments on the PDC Development Tour and took part in the qualifying tournaments for the European Darts Tour . Kurz was qualified for the Super League Darts 2017 due to his placement in the previous year and reached the play-off round for the first time.
Due to his placement in the Super League Darts 2018 , he was qualified for the German Darts Masters 2018 , where he was eliminated in round 1 against Jamie Lewis . In the Super League he made it to the quarter-finals, but lost to Stefan Stoyke there .
In 2019, Kurz was able to qualify for the European Darts Open and thus for the first time for a tournament of the European Darts Tour , but lost there in the first round against Kim Huybrechts . In the same year at the German Darts Masters he was able to defeat the two-time PDC World Champion Gary Anderson in the first round , but was eliminated in the quarterfinals against Peter Wright .
At the Super League Darts 2019 , Kurz was able to win the play-offs and fix his first World Cup participation. At the PDC World Darts Championship 2020 he was able to defeat James Wilson in the first round and played eight perfect darts. In the second round he defeated Joe Cullen before failing in round 3 to Luke Humphries .
At the third tournament of the Development Tour 2020 he reached the final and lost to Ryan Meikle . Kurz also won the Super League Darts 2020 , qualifying him for the PDC World Darts Championship 2021 .
From 2018 to 2020 he took part in the Qualifying School of the PDC, but played only one of the four tournaments each year and could not secure a Tour Card.
