Nikolaus Okonkwo

Nikolaus Okonkwo (born 1963 in Hanover , Germany ; real life Nikolaus Schlieper ) is a German actor .

Life

After finishing school he first studied Waldorf education and eurythmy in Hanover in order to become Germany's youngest teacher at a Waldorf school in the Ruhr area in 1983 . After two years of teaching and subsequent community service at the Diakonisches Werk as an artistic therapist, he realized his childhood dream of becoming an actor by studying at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts .

With a diploma and an enthusiasm for theater, he then appeared in city and state theaters in cities such as Heidelberg , Saarbrücken , Freiburg im Breisgau , Wiesbaden , Bern , Linz , Berlin , Hamburg and Vienna . In the 2013/14 season he played in “Pretty Best Friends” at the Wiener Kammerspiele .

In 1994 he had the first continuous leading role in a television series. In 1998 he followed the call of the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy , where he is still active as a lecturer, head of studies and speaker.

Through very impressive experiences of intolerance towards him as an Afro-German , he got to know the association Hand in Hand International eV in 2000 and since then, together with his wife, the actress Cheryl Shepard , has actively campaigned for fellow human beings and for a more tolerant world.

He lives with his wife in Leipzig. Since 1999 he has been using the stage name Okonkwo , which he took over from his father.
