Norbert Kleinwächter (born February 22, 1986 in Augsburg ) is a German politician ( AfD ) and teacher. He has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2017 .

Life

Norbert Kleinwächter was born in Augsburg and grew up in Bayreuth . After graduating from high school in 2005, he studied Comparative Literature at Dartmouth College (USA) with a degree in Artium Magister and English , Romance studies and theater studies in Erlangen with a degree in Magister Artium . He also received the first state examination for teaching at grammar schools in English, French and performing games. From 2013 to 2017 he was a teacher at the private schools Villa Elisabeth in Wildau .

Political career

From 2005 to 2007, Kleinwächter was a member of the Labor & Social Justice party - The Alternative Choice . He has been a member of the AfD since 2013. In 2014 he became a member of the Dahme-Spreewald district association and chairman of its AfD parliamentary group. After the 2017 federal election , he became a member of the German Bundestag via the Brandenburg state list .

Norbert Kleinwächter has been on the board of the Franco-German Parliamentary Assembly since 2019 . Norbert Kleinwächter is a permanent member of the German delegation to the Council of Europe and the EU Committee and a deputy member of the Committee on Labor and Social Affairs and the Committee on Education, Research and Technology Assessment .

Positions

Kleinwächter locates himself in the so-called “ alternative center ”, what they consider to be the moderate wing of the AfD. The time counted him to the "moderate" wing of the AfD.

He is committed to opening up his party to the Christian Democratic Union of Germany and the Free Democratic Party . Right-wing extremist ideas have no place in the AfD , affirmed Kleinwächter in several of his videos and interviews. The same applies to the public demand to curtail basic rights for AfD members and sympathizers. Every convinced democrat, including Kleinwächter without reservation, has to stand up when making such a demand, even if he personally does not appreciate the views of the AfD.

Kleinwächter introduced a bill to amend fixed-term employment contracts in the Bundestag. The aim was to eliminate the difference between time limits with a material reason and time limits without a material reason by only allowing time limits without a material reason and thus avoiding the chain time limits. This application was a personal concern of Norbert Kleinwächter because he himself worked as a teacher and in particular denounces the fact that teachers are hired at the beginning of the school year and re-issued at the end. In addition, Kleinwächter applied for a subsidiarity complaint from the Bundestag against the European Union. The aim was to prevent the establishment of the European labor authority ELA .

In November 2017, Kleinwächter, together with Roman Reusch and Waldemar Herdt, submitted an application to the Bundestag to promote the return of Syrian refugees . In the motion, the MPs wrote: “The security situation in large parts of Syria has improved substantially in the past few months.” They cited the International Organization for Migration (IOM), according to which “in the first seven months of 2017 alone, over 600,000 Syrians "returned to their homeland, and demanded that the German government should conclude an agreement with the Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad so that refugees could move back to the civil war country " safely and free of charge from now on .
The IOM had published a report under such a heading, but instead of a better security situation it described the opposite: According to the IOM, 93% of these 600,000 people had not even left Syria; they had fled within the country. In the same period, more than 800,000 Syrians were also displaced. 10% of the returnees had to flee a second time. The completed report, a return is "not necessarily voluntary, safe or sustainable" ( English : "not Necessarily voluntary, safe or sustainable"). According to the latest IOM figures, almost 1.5 million people had to flee within Syria between January and October.
The members of the other parliamentary groups reacted by shaking their heads , accusing the AfD of “ cynicism ” and “ sleight of hand ”. The Süddeutsche received the presentation of the proposal under the title “ Alternative facts for Germany”, the BR perceived a changed culture of debate , and the MDR reported a new culture of debate , which would include “loud and shrill tones and provocations ”.
