Nostis et nobiscum

Nostis et nobiscum is an encyclical from Pope Pius IX. , it has the subtitle: "About the Church in the Papal State". On December 8, 1849, the Pope addressed the archbishops and bishops in Italy with this encyclical and emphasized in the opening part that he had already spoken about socialism earlier, for example in his encyclical Qui pluribus (1846) he considered revolutionary socialism a doctrine that was not permitted and directed against nature and called him again a wretched enemy of truth, justice and honor.

Through these machinations he sees the Italian state and the Catholic Church in great danger and vehemently turned against the advancing Protestantism , he called it malice and cheek to claim that it should replace Catholicism . Pius IX described the theories of socialism and communism . as confusing and perverted teachings and he forbade all dealings with the "enemies of the church". He urged his confreres and urged them not to allow Italy to fall victim to these predators. It is diabolical machinations and untrue promises that are wrapped in the cloak of equality and freedom to seduce people. In conclusion, he reminded the clergy of their Christian duties, he instructed the bishops to select only suitable candidates in the formation of priests, and he insisted on a good formation of priests based on the Christian doctrine of the faith.
