Qui nuper

Qui nuper is an encyclical from Pope Pius IX. , with which on June 18, 1859 commented on the Italian unification movements and commented on the position on the " papal state ". He notes, as it were, that the revolutionary movement in all of Italy had also broken into the papal territories, so he rebuked the revolutionaries and called them rebels who disregard the legitimate law and sovereignty of the Holy Papal State .

This encyclical, wrote Pius IX., Should therefore exhort all those involved and urge them to uphold the law given by God . In conclusion, he announced that he would do everything possible to protect the citadel and the stronghold of faith. He also called for reason and prayer and gave consolation to all venerable confreres.
