criticism

The Laut.de e-zine rated Nothing Was the Same with five out of five points. In his review, editor Stefan Johannesberg particularly praised the Wu Tang Clan references. The piece Tuscan Leather sparkles “ with straight spitting and rap references like the Prodigy quote or the allusion to the 'No Chrous' tracks from the New York era. “The“ tough banging beat including backward loops in the style of Ghostface '' Stroke Of Death ' ”changed and Drake created a“ bridge from the 90s to his own softer Yolo style. “While Furthest Thing is rated as the best song, The Language is a“ The Migos Flow copy ”and 305 To My City is uninspired.

Leaderboard

In the list of the best “Hip Hop Albums of the Year” 2013 by Laut.de , Nothing Was the Same was ranked 10th. From the editors' point of view, Drake is “perfecting his trademark formula of the big rape in a quiet tone between 90s R'n'B and Dirty South BoomBap, between James Blake and Lil Wayne . “The rapper is a mature artist who is far from being without its contradictions.
