Nowe Horyzonty is a film festival that takes place every June in Wroclaw , Poland . It is also known by the English name of New Horizons Film Festival .

history

It is the largest Polish film festival. The first edition took place in Sanok , between 2002 and 2005 in Cieszyn and since 2006 in Wroclaw . The most important sponsors are the mobile operator T-Mobile and the city of Wroclaw. The basic idea is to present artistic and unconventional cinema. Roman Gutek is the founder and director of the festival. The Gutek Film company and the Stowarzyszenie Nowe Horyzonty association are responsible for organizing the festival . The festival is a member of FIAPF (Fédération Internationale des Associations de Producteurs de Films). The organization of the festival is supported by the Media Plus program ofEuropean Union .

Competitions

Various competitions take place as part of the festival:

  • New Horizons international competition : the audience chooses a winner. The second winner will be selected by a jury and will receive the Grand Prix and a cash prize (20,000 euros in 2011). The third is a FIRPRESCI winner. Gutek Film guarantees all films to be distributed in Poland.
  • International competition films about art : An international jury awards a cash prize (10,000 euros in 2011) and a guarantee of film distribution in Poland.
  • New Polish Films Competition : The winner will receive the Wroclaw Film Prize from the President of Wroclaw (25,000 euros). There is also a prize for the best director's debut (10,000 euros) from the Voivodeship Marshal of Lower Silesia .
