history
Neugersdorf was laid out on royal land in 1581 by the chief forest master of the County of Glatz , Leonhard Verldhammer. It was initially referred to as Obergersdorf , the spelling Neugirßdorf is documented for 1631 . It belonged to the Landeck district and was owned by the Bohemian Chamber . After the Silesian Wars it fell to Prussia together with the County of Glatz in 1763 with the Peace of Hubertusburg . After the reorganization of Prussia, it belonged to the province of Silesia from 1815 and was initially incorporated into the district of Glatz . In 1818 it was reorganized into the newly formed district of Habelschwerdt , to which it belonged until 1945. In 1874 the district of Gersdorf was formed, to which the rural communities Neugersdorf, Bielendorf , Gompersdorf , Mühlbach and Altgersdorf belonged. Due to its mountain location, Neugersdorf developed into a popular resort and winter sports destination from the beginning of the 19th century. In 1939 there were 422 inhabitants.
As a result of the Second World War , Neugersdorf fell to Poland in 1945, like almost all of Silesia, and was first renamed Nowy Miłobądz and then Nowy Gierałtów . The German population was expelled. Some of the new residents were displaced from eastern Poland . Many of them left Nowy Gierałtów again over the next few decades, leaving numerous houses and farmsteads to decay. In the 1990s, the population was less than a quarter of the population of 1939. 1975-1998 Nowy Gierałtów belonged to the Wałbrzych Voivodeship .
