The OSE series 460 is a fully air-conditioned, five-part, electric regional multiple unit from the Desiro family of multiple units from Siemens Transportation Systems (now Siemens Mobility ) of the Greek state railway OSE .

The production took place in Greece. Siemens worked in a consortium with Hellenic Shipyards (which belonged to Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft and thus to Thyssen-Krupp ). At Hellenic Shipyards, however, there were scheduling difficulties, so that they provided the Greek state railway OSE with eight diesel-powered Desiro Classic OSE series 660s ordered from Siemens to bridge the gap.

On May 30, 2006, the last of the 20 multiple units was handed over to the Greek State Railways in Thessaloniki . After the electrification of a section between Athens and Thessaloniki was completed, the electric multiple units could be used, while the diesel multiple units of the OSE series 660 used for bridging could be returned to the manufacturer and are now used by the Hungarian state railways .

stretch

The Desiro series 460 is used on the airport feeder in Athens by the private railway company Proastiakos and on the north-south main line Athens-Thessaloniki by the Greek state railway OSE.
