The vehicles of the SŽ series 312 are electric multiple units of the Slovenian State Railways (SŽ) for regional traffic. They correspond to the Desiro vehicle concept from Siemens Mobility (formerly Siemens Transportation Systems).
Manufacturer
Siemens received the total order worth around 97 million euros for a total of 30 multiple units in May 1998. Manufacturers were Siemens SGP Verkehrstechnik and TVT Nova in Slovenia, a subsidiary of Siemens Austria. Both companies have been working under a cooperation agreement since 1999. The mechanical construction took place at Siemens TS in Krefeld . Production was mainly located in Maribor , the acceptance test was carried out in Ljubljana . The first delivery took place in September 2000. The last train was handed over to the customer in July 2002.
The trains are used in suburban traffic from Ljubljana as well as on the Ljubljana– Koper , Ljubljana– Jesenice , Ljubljana – Dobova and Maribor – Zidani Most routes .
