The Obere Altenteich is a nature reserve (NSG) in the district of Meißen in Saxony . The 11.51 hectare area with NSG no. D 66 lies between Weinböhla and Moritzburg , north of the village of Auer im Friedewald .
The nature reserve was established by resolution no. 92-14 / 74 of the Dresden district assembly of July 4, 1974 (commun. State organs no. 4/74).
The nature reserve is part of the FFH area no. 4847-302 “Moritzburg Ponds and Forests” and the landscape protection area “Friedewald, Moritzburger Teichgebiet and Lößnitz”.
description
The pond was created when marshes in the Friedewald were converted into ponds under Duke Georg . The pond is only fed by a few tributaries and is dependent on precipitation and melt water. It is therefore also known as the heavenly pond.
