The moor forest on the Pech River near Medingen is a nature reserve (NSG) in Laußnitz in the Bautzen district and in Radeburg in the Meißen district in Saxony . The 84 hectare area with the NSG no. D 97 is located north of Medingen , a district of the Ottendorf-Okrilla community .
The nature reserve was temporarily secured by an ordinance issued by the Dresden Regional Council on November 14, 1995. This regulation was extended on December 23, 1998. The nature reserve was established with the ordinance of the Dresden Regional Council of July 15, 1999 (SächsABl. P. 705). This determination was last changed on November 6, 2001 (SächsABl. P. 1142).
The nature reserve is part of the FFH area No. 4748-303 “Großdittmannsdorf moor forest area”.
description
The area includes the moorland and headwaters of the Pech River and the adjacent areas on the southwestern edge of the Laußnitzer Heide . The purpose of protection is u. a. the preservation and development of the following biotope structures: forest bogs, swamps , wetlands rich in sedge and rushes , bog forests, spring areas, near-natural small bodies of water, silting areas of standing water, cave-rich islands of old wood and cave-rich individual trees.
