The 162.60  hectare area with the NSG no. D 107 extends in a valley to the south and east of the Linz location , a district of the Schönfeld municipality , from Galgenberg in a north direction to the edge of the Kraussnitz location .

The area includes the headwaters of the Linz water with a number of extensively used ponds. Fresh, moist and wet meadows are different habitat structures between the ponds as Riede , reedbeds , Hochstaudenfluren, damp thickets, breakage , marsh , floodplain and acidophilous oak mixed forests.

There is also a healthy old population of European silver fir trees ( Abies alba ) in the area, which should be promoted and preserved. Another protection purpose is the preservation and promotion of a mass population of broad-leaved orchid ( Dactylorhiza majalis ).
