Oberneumark is a part of the municipality of Neumark in the Vogtlandkreis in Saxony, which belongs to the Neumark district . Oberneumark was incorporated on July 1, 1950 and, like Untereumark, belongs to the Neumark district .

Oberneumark is located south of Neumark on the upper reaches of the Neumarker Bach , a tributary of the Pleiße . Oberneumark is located at the transition between the natural areas Vogtland ( Middle Vogtland Kuppenland ) and the Ore Mountains Basin (Upper Pleißeland). The place lies on the northeast border of the Saxon part of the historical Vogtland .

history

Oberneumark was mentioned in 1441 as "Obirnuwenmarck". From the 16th century onwards, the manor over the place lay partly with the manors Neumark , Reuth and Ruppertsgrün . In the 18th century there was a farm in the village . Thus Oberneumark belonged like the other today's districts of Neumark until 1856 to the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Zwickau in the Erzgebirge district .

In 1856, Oberneumark, like the places in the former Zwickau office, which had also belonged to the Neumark manor, was incorporated into the Reichenbach court office and in 1875 the Plauen administration . In the second half of the 19th century, iron ore mining was carried out between Hauptmannsgrün and Oberneumark. In 1860 the "Thekla" mine was taken over by the Queen Marienhütte in Cainsdorf . After this stopped the production of pig iron in the Hochhofen in 1893, mining also came to a standstill. In 1920 Oberneumark was assigned to the administrative authority of Werdau . Due to the dissolution of the administrative district in 1933, the place came to the Zwickau district administration , which from 1939 was called the Zwickau district.

On July 1, 1950, Oberneumark was incorporated into Neumark. As a result of the second district reform in the GDR , Oberneumark became part of the Neumark community in 1952 and became part of the Reichenbach district in the Chemnitz district (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ), which was continued as the Saxon district of Reichenbach from 1990 and was incorporated into the Vogtland district in 1996.
