Location of Schönbach in Saxony

Schönbach is a district of the municipality of Neumark in the Vogtlandkreis in Saxony . The place was incorporated on January 1, 1994.

geography

location

Schönbach is located west of Neumark on the Schönbacher Bach, which drains over the Neumarker Bach into the Pleiße . Schönbach is located at the transition between the Vogtland ( Middle Vogtland Kuppenland ) and Ore Mountain Basin (Upper Pleißeland) natural areas . The place lies on the northeast border of the Saxon part of the historical Vogtland . The Free State of Thuringia borders in the northwest on a narrow strip. In the north of the village, the “Neue Reichenbacher Straße” largely forms the boundary to the neighboring village of Reuth. As a result, the former Brunn (Sachs) stop on the disused Neumark – Greiz railway line and the surrounding buildings are still on Schönbacher Flur.

history

Schönbach was mentioned in 1357 as "Schonbach". From the 16th century, the manorial rule over the place was partly held by the manors Reuth (majority) and Ruppertsgrün (small portion). Schönbach belonged like the other today's districts of Neumark until 1856 to the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Zwickau in the Erzgebirge district . In 1856 Schönbach, like the places around Neumark in the former Zwickau office, was affiliated to the Reichenbach court office and in 1875 to the Plauen administration . In 1920 Schönbach was assigned to the Werdau administration . Due to the dissolution of the administrative district in 1933, the place came to the Zwickau district administration , which from 1939 was called the Zwickau district.

As a result of the second district reform in the GDR , the community of Schönbach became part of Reichenbach in the Chemnitz district in 1952 (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ), which was continued as the Saxon district of Reichenbach from 1990 and became part of the Vogtland district in 1996. On January 1, 1994, Schönbach was incorporated into Neumark. The district has a local council.

traffic

The federal highway 173 runs on the southern edge of the village .

The Brunn (Sachs) stop on the Neumark – Greiz railway line was in operation between 1886 and 1997. Although it is named after the district of Brunn , which today belongs to Reichenbach , it was located in the corridor of today's Neumark district of Schönbach. The Leipzig – Hof railway line runs through Schönbacher Flur without stopping. The nearest train station is Neumark (Sachs) station .
