Location of Reuth in Saxony

Reuth is a district of the municipality of Neumark in the Vogtlandkreis in Saxony . The place was incorporated on January 1, 1994.

geography

location

Reuth is located northwest of Neumark on the upper reaches of the Aubach , which flows into the White Elster in Greiz . The place lies at the transition of the natural areas Vogtland ( Central Vogtland Kuppenland ), Thuringian Slate Mountains ( East Thuringian-Vogtland plateaus ) and Ore Mountains Basin (Upper Pleißeland). Reuth, which is the northernmost town in the Vogtland district today, is located on the northeast border of the Saxon part of the historic Vogtland . The Thuringian district of Greiz borders in the west and the Saxon district of Zwickau in the north .

In the south of the village, the “Neue Reichenbacher Straße” largely forms the corridor boundary to the neighboring town of Schönbach. As a result, the former Brunn (Sachs) stop on the disused Neumark – Greiz railway line and the surrounding buildings are already on Schönbacher Flur.

history

Reuth was mentioned in 1394 as "zu der Ruthe". The manor over the place was exercised until the 19th century by the manor, first mentioned in 1552 . Reuth belonged like the other present-day districts of Neumark to the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Zwickau in the Erzgebirge district . In 1856, in contrast to the other places around Neumark, in the former Zwickau office, Reuth was not affiliated with the Reichenbach court office , but with the Werdau court office and, in 1875, with the Zwickau administration . In 1920 Reuth was assigned to the Werdau administration . Due to the dissolution of the administrative district in 1933, the place came back to the Zwickau district administration, which from 1939 was called the Zwickau district.

As a result of the second district reform in the GDR , the municipality of Reuth became part of Reichenbach in the Chemnitz district (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ), which was continued as the Saxon district of Reichenbach from 1990 and became part of the Vogtland district in 1996. On January 1, 1994, Reuth was incorporated into Neumark. The district has a local council.

traffic

The Brunn (Sachs) stop on the Neumark – Greiz railway line was in operation between 1886 and 1997. Although it is named after the district of Brunn , which today belongs to Reichenbach , it was located in the corridor of today's Neumark district of Schönbach near the southern corridor border to Reuth. The Leipzig – Hof railway line runs south of Reuth through Schönbacher Flur. The nearest train station is Neumark (Sachs) station .
