history

Oberreichenbach was first documented in 1324 as "Obirrichinbach". It was laid out as a typical row village. The place was known because of the mining of brown iron stone , which took place until the 19th century. The "Isolde" mine was in operation until 1893. From the 16th century onwards, the lordship over Oberreichenbach was partly owned by the manors Brunn and Reichenbach. In the 16th century, Oberreichenbach came under the rule of Mylau to the Electoral Saxon or later royal Saxon office of Plauen , to which the place was subject until 1856. In 1856 Oberreichenbach became part of the Reichenbach court office and in 1875 the Plauen administration .

Up until the 19th century, Oberreichenbach was characterized by agriculture and mining. In the second half of the 19th century, two textile companies, the companies "Rinck" and "JD Schneider", set up shop. The school building, which is still in use today, was erected in 1881 and since 1909 has been named after the pedagogue Friedrich Dittes from Irfersgrün . In 1895, with the opening of the Oberreichenbach stop (railway station since 1905) on the Reichenbach (Vogtl) railway line above Bf – Göltzschtalbrücke, Oberreichenbach received a rail connection. The station was renamed Reichenbach (Vogtl) Ost in 1927 . Between 1935 and 1945 the Reichenbach (Vogtl) Dittesschule halt existed at the Dittesschule .

At the time of incorporation into Reichenbach on January 1, 1908, Oberreichenbach had 4000 inhabitants. In 1921 the outdoor swimming pool of Oberreichenbach was inaugurated on the "Badstrasse". As a result of the second district reform in the GDR , Oberreichenbach came as a district of the new district town of Reichenbach in Vogtland in 1952 to the district of Reichenbach in the Chemnitz district (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ), which was continued as the Saxon district of Reichenbach from 1990 and in 1996 in Vogtlandkreis rose. After the cessation of passenger traffic on the Reichenbach – Göltzschtalbrücke railway line in 1957, the Oberreichenbach station was still served by freight traffic until the remaining section of the line was closed in 1977.
