Oberströmbl is a district of the Bavarian market Waidhaus in the district of Neustadt an der Waldnaab in the administrative district of Upper Palatinate .

Geographical location

Oberströmbl is about two kilometers east of Waidhaus on the west bank of the Rehlingbach (Czech: Hraniční Potok = Grenzbach), which forms the German-Czech border here. On the opposite bank of the river in Czech territory is the former village of Ströbl. About a kilometer north of Oberströmbl also on the banks of the Rehlingbach was the Speckermühle, which has now fallen into disrepair. Ströbl and the Speckermühle used to belong to Oberströbl. The A6 motorway crosses the Rehlingbach and the Czech border about 500 meters south of Oberströbl . The Rehlingbach flows east of Reichenau along the Czech border from north to south and flows into the Pfreimd at Pfrentschweiher , which is still called Katharinabach there.

history

The Ströblhammer, east of the Rehlingbach , was first mentioned in 1322 under the name Reichlieb. From this it goes to the owner Ströbel, who gives it to the hammer master Mayer in 1479, after which it is then called Mayer-Hammer and later Mayerhof.

The Eisenhammer Oberströmbl was once located on the site of the dilapidated Speckermühle.

In the 18th century Oberströmbl belonged to Waidhaus, district Vohenstrauß, and consisted of Ströbl and the Speckermühle.

In 1808 tax districts were formed. The Speckermühle (= Oberströbl) belonged together with the village of Frankenreuth, the hamlet of Reichenau and the desert areas of Kühmühle and Richterhaus and the village of Waidhaus to the Waidhaus tax district. The Waidhaus tax district belonged to the Vohenstrauß regional court.

Markets, rural communities and village communities emerged from the tax districts . In 1821, the Speckermühle (= Oberströbl) belonged to the village of Waidhaus with two families. In addition, the commune of Waidhaus included the deserted Richterhaus and Hörlmühle with two families each, the hamlet of Reichenau with 9 families and the village of Waidhaus itself with 147 families.

On a historical map from 1830 to 1840 Oberströbl is shown west of the Rehlingbach. A bit south of it a grinding mill. Even further south east of the Rehlingbach Ströbel and south of it another grinding mill.

Another historical map 1808–1864 shows the Speckermühle on the west bank and Ströbl on the east bank.

In 1867 Oberströmbl (Speckermühle) had six buildings and 17 residents. It belonged to the Waidhaus community. The Waidhaus community at that time included the districts Waidhaus, Birkenlohe, Buchen, Bucher, Forsthaus, Frankenreuth, Grafenau, Hörlmühle, Kühmühle, Oberströbl (= Speckermühle), Pfälzerhof, Reichenau, Richterhaus (= Hermannsbach) and Ziegelhütte.

From 1939 the districts of Birklohe, Forsthaus, Frankenreuth, Grafenau, Hörlmühle, Kühmühle, Marxmühle, Oberströbl (= Speckermühle and Ströbl), Ödkührieth, Papiermühle, Pfälzerhof, Reichenau and Ziegelhütte belonged to the municipality of Waidhaus.
