Pfälzerhof is a district of the Bavarian market Waidhaus in the district of Neustadt an der Waldnaab in the administrative district of Upper Palatinate .

Geographical location

Pfälzerhof is located on State Road 2154 about one kilometer east of Waidhaus and one kilometer northwest of the A 6 motorway . Pfälzerhof is located about 500 meters west of the Rehlingbach (Czech: Hraniční Potok = Grenzbach), which forms the German-Czech border here. The Rehlingbach flows east of Reichenau along the Czech border from north to south and flows into the Pfreimd at Pfrentschweiher , which is still called Katharinabach there.

In 1867 Pfälzerhof had six buildings and four residents. It belonged to the Waidhaus community. The Waidhaus community at that time included the districts Waidhaus, Birkenlohe, Buchen, Bucher, Forsthaus, Frankenreuth, Grafenau, Hörlmühle, Kühmühle, Oberströbl (= Speckermühle), Pfälzerhof, Reichenau, Richterhaus (= Hermannsbach) and Ziegelhütte.

In 1913, Pfälzerhof had five houses and 32 Catholics and belonged to the Waidhaus parish. At that time there were 1653 Catholics, 8 Protestants and 16 Jews living in the area of ​​the parish Waidhaus.

From 1939 the districts of Birklohe, Forsthaus, Frankenreuth, Grafenau, Hörlmühle, Kühmühle, Marxmühle, Oberströbl (= Speckermühle and Ströbl), Ödkührieth, Papiermühle, Pfälzerhof, Reichenau and Ziegelhütte belonged to the municipality of Waidhaus.

In 1990 there were 29 Catholics in Pfälzerhof. At that time, 95.39% of the inhabitants of the parish Waidhaus were Catholic. Pfälzerhof belongs to the parish Waidhaus to the deanery of Leuchtenberg.

Culture and sights

North-east of Pfälzerhof is the battlefield on which the battle took place in 1621 between the imperial army under General Tilly and the Palatinate mercenary army of Ernst von Mansfeld during the Thirty Years' War . The remains of the Mansfeld ski jumps can still be seen here.
