Olga Mikhailovna Poltaranina , born Dudtschenko ( Kazakh Ольга Михайловна Полтаранина , born Дудченко * 27 February 1987 in Leninogorsk , oblast East Kazakhstan , Kazakh SSR , Soviet Union ) is a Kazakh biathlete .

Career

Olga Poltaranina is the daughter of the Kazakh national coach Mikhail Dudchenko , who also trains her. She is married to the Kazakh cross-country skier Alexei Poltaranin , and in 2009 the couple had a son. The trained police officer made her debut in 2000 at the age of 13 at the junior world championships in summer biathlon in Khanty-Mansiysk . Here she won relay gold with Irina Moschewitina and Viktorija Afanassjewa and was tenth in the sprint and ninth in the pursuit.

Her next appearances at international tournaments were at the Junior World Championships in biathlon in 2001, also in Khanty-Mansiysk and in 2002 in Ridnaun . In Ridnaun, Poltoranina won bronze in the sprint and was sixth in the pursuit and with the relay. In 2002 she made her debut in the European Cup in Obertilliach , where she was 21st in the sprint. In 2003, at the age of 16, she started at the biathlon world championships in Khanty-Mansiysk for the first time . She was used in the sprint, where she finished 74th.

At the beginning of the 2003/04 season, Poltaranina also made her debut in the Biathlon World Cup in a sprint race in Kontiolahti (67th). After that, however, it was used almost exclusively in the European Cup. In 2004 she won an individual for the first time in Obertilliach. Since the 2006/07 season, Dudchenko was increasingly used in the World Cup. At the 2007 Biathlon World Championships in Antholz she competed in singles and was 69.

After a break of several years, Olga Poltaranina started the 2010/2011 World Cup in Östersund in the singles and came in 37th. This was the first time she won points in the World Cup. In Östersund, she improved her best performance in a pursuit race to 24th place as the season progressed.
