Oliver Simon (born May 14, 1957 in Wolfratshausen ; † July 31, 2013 , actually Werner Gensmantel ) was a German singer . From 1986 to 1989 and in 1999 he was a partner of Drafi Deutscher in the Euro-Pop duo Mixed Emotions .

biography

Oliver Simon grew up on the outskirts of Grünwald near Munich , where, in addition to a construction business , his parents also ran an excursion restaurant with a live music program. The family later moved to downtown Munich. There he was a member of the Domsingknaben of the Munich Frauenkirche and the Munich choirboys . With both choirs he toured Germany and abroad for four years. After choir boarding and business school , he completed vocational training as an industrial clerk . In 1975 he became a member of a Swiss professional band, where he gained five years of experience and saved money to found his own band with four musicians, two dancers and a singer. The Swiss manager looked after him. He moved from club to club until he was discovered by the talent scouts of a large German record company for studio recording. It took two years to work with Drafi Deutscher. He wrote the song You will never die again for love for Simon. Those responsible for the label said that both artists could benefit from the success of the pop duo Modern Talking together with English-language songs . In 1990, after his time with Mixed Emotions , he released his first album. It wasn't until 16 years later, in 2006, that the second appeared under his name, after there had been another mixed-emotions comeback in 1999 . The comeback was initiated by Oliver Simon. Oliver Simon played guitar , piano , drums and trombone . He also built up an existence as the owner of a recording studio , a music publisher , a fitness studio and a beauty salon .

On July 31, 2013, Oliver Simon died at the age of 56 from a brain tumor that he was diagnosed with in 2011. As requested, he was buried at the roots of a selected tree in the Piepersloh forest cemetery in Lüdenscheid .
