Olivera Miljakovic
Olivera Miljakovic ( Cyrillic : Оливера Миљаковић; born April 26, 1934 in Belgrade ) is a Serbian - Austrian opera singer ( soprano ) and music teacher .
Life
Miljakovic originally wanted to be a pianist and attended the Belgrade Music Academy , first switching to art history before she decided to train her voice. Her singing teachers were Josip Riavez in Belgrade, Gina Cigna in Milan and Ludwig Weber in Vienna .
At the National Opera Belgrade she sang since 1960 mostly small batches until on the advice of the contralto Biserka Cvejic went to Vienna, where she in 1963 to the Vienna State Opera has been committed. Here she achieved her first great success in 1967 and the beginning of a great career when she took over the role of Despina in “ Così fan tutte ” without an orchestral rehearsal .
This was followed by appearances at the Salzburg Festival , where she played Fedor in “ Boris Godunow ” in 1965 and 1967 , Frasquita in “ Carmen ” in 1967 , Zerlina in “ Don Giovanni ” in 1969 , Serpina in “ La serva padrona ” in 1970 , and 1968 1971 Susanna sang in " Figaros Hochzeit " and 1979 to 1982 Echo in " Ariadne auf Naxos ". In 1965 she took over the role of the young shepherd in " Tannhäuser " at the Bayreuth Festival .
Guest engagements have taken her to the opera houses of Brussels , Bordeaux , Lyon and Toulouse , to the State Operas of Hamburg and Munich , to the Deutsche Oper Berlin , to the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires and to Monte Carlo , Zurich , Geneva and Chicago . She was also heard at the Wiesbaden Festival and the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino .
Miljakovic has also made a name for herself as a concert singer and her coloratura soprano benefited her as a successful operetta singer.
From 1986 to 1992 she worked as a voice teacher at the Opera Studio of the Vienna State Opera. She is visiting professor at Senzoku Gakuen University in Tokyo and shares her knowledge in master classes and private lessons.
She has been organizing international benefit concerts for children in need since 1984 and has been the musical director of the “Ambassadors in Concert” benefit event, which takes place annually at the Vienna Musikverein , since 2003 .
Olivera Miljakovic lives in Vienna and was married to the opera and concert singer Herbert Lackner , who died on August 23, 2015 .
