Career
Olli Juolevi played in his youth for the youth departments of the IHK Helsinki and the Jokerit in his hometown. He made his debut for the U20 Jokerit in the 2013/14 season in the Jr. A SM-liiga, the highest junior league in Finland. In the summer of 2014, the defender represented his home country for the first time on an international level at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament 2014 . In the following season 2014/15 Juolevi established himself in the U20 of the Jokerit and got 32 scorer points in 44 games, so that he was awarded the best rookie and best defender of the Jr. A SM-liiga. He was also part of the Finnish selection that won the bronze medal at the 2015 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival .
Then Juolevi decided to move to North America, where he joined the London Knights from the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), who had selected him in the 2015 CHL Import Draft in 45th position. The defender quickly established himself in the Knights squad and won the playoffs for the J. Ross Robertson Cup with them , where he was appointed to the OHL Second All-Rookie Team and the OHL Third All-Star Team . The team also prevailed in the subsequent Memorial Cup 2016 , with Juolevi booking seven assists in four games and thus also being elected to the all-star team of the tournament. At the same time, he took part in the U20 World Cup in 2016 with the Finnish U20 national team and won the gold medal there. The Finn led all the defenders of the tournament in templates (9) and was called up again to the all-star team of the tournament. After that season, Juolevi was unanimously seen as one of the most promising talents in the upcoming 2016 NHL Entry Draft , in which the Vancouver Canucks eventually selected him in fifth position. In August 2016 he signed an entry contract with the Canucks , but returned to the OHL for another year in the 2016/17 season. He also represented Finland over the turn of the year again at the U20 World Cup , where he led the team as captain .
In preparation for the 2017/18 season, Juolevi was unable to earn a regular place at the Canucks, so he was loaned to the Turun Palloseura in his home country in order to allow him to continue playing. He also took part in the U20 World Cup for a third time with the Finnish selection , but missed the medal ranks with the team as in the previous year. At the beginning of the 2018/19 season, Juolevi switched permanently to the organization of the Canucks and was initially handed over to their farm team , the Utica Comets from the American Hockey League (AHL). There he played 18 games in which he recorded 13 points before sustaining a knee injury in December 2018 that caused him to be out for the rest of the season.
