The women's 80-meter hurdles at the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin was held on August 5 and 6, 1936 in the Berlin Olympic Stadium. 22 athletes took part.
The Italian Trebisonda Valla was Olympic champion ahead of the German Anni Steuer . Bronze went to Elizabeth Taylor from Canada .

Conducting the competition
The athletes started four heats on August 5th. The three best runners in each case qualified for the semi-finals on the same day on which the top three runners reached the final on August 6th.

Weather conditions: slightly cloudy, approx. 18 ° C, tail wind of 1.4 m / s.
Even before the final it was clear that it would be a very close race. And so it happened. The gold medal winner was the experienced Italian Trebisonda Valla, who was believed to have had the best of her career behind her. But she was in top shape to the minute. Silver went to the German Anni Steuer, completely surprisingly, at the German Championships with 12.3 seconds second behind Doris Eckert, who came in sixth here. The Canadian Elizabeth Taylor came third, ahead of Valla's compatriot Claudia Testoni.
The official times for the first four were all stopped with 11.7 s, which meant an Olympic record . The unofficial electronic measurement showed a difference of seven hundredths of a second between first and fourth place. Only the evaluation of the target photo provided information about the final order .
All three medalists won the first medals for their countries in this discipline.
