Indonesia took part in the 1992 Summer Olympic Games in Barcelona with a delegation of 42 athletes (27 men and 15 women) in 31 competitions in ten sports. The flag bearer at the opening ceremony was the former badminton player Christian Hadinata , who took part in his sport in the Olympic Games in 1972, but only in demonstration competitions . Badminton was officially Olympic for the first time in 1992 - Indonesia's athletes were the most numerous in this sport and won at least one medal in three competitions there.
