India took part in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi with three athletes . Until February 10th, participation only existed as an independent Olympic participant , as the National Olympic Committee of India had been suspended by the International Olympic Committee since December 2012 due to non-compliance with IOC guidelines in its upcoming election as an official and had not held it until the beginning of the 2014 Winter Games .
