This article covers Burma's Olympic selection during the 1972 Summer Olympics .
Olympic qualification
In sub-group B of group 2 of the Asian qualification, Burma prevailed with two victories over Thailand and Ceylon and advanced to the semi-finals, where Indonesia was beaten 3-0. With the 1-0 final victory over Thailand, Burma qualified for the first time for the Olympic football tournament .

Games
After two narrow 1-0 defeats against the Soviet Union and Mexico, Burma was unable to reach the second round on the last day of the match. After the 2-0 victory over Sudan, the team took third place in the group and was eliminated from the tournament.
