This article covers the Colombian Olympic selection during the 1972 Summer Olympics .

Olympic qualification

The preliminary group determined their two participants for the continental finals through a tournament in Colombia. Peru and the hosts qualified for this, with a draw in the final group game against Paraguay. In the final round, they achieved three draws against Brazil, Argentina and Peru, which brought in second place, which qualified for the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich .

After two clear defeats against the eventual Olympic champions Poland and the GDR, they won the last group game against Ghana. This closed the group in third place and was eliminated from the tournament after the preliminary round.
