This article covers the Iranian Olympic selection during the 1972 Summer Olympics .
Olympic qualification
Iran entered the second round without a fight by bye . In this they prevailed against Kuwait with two wins and moved into the decisive 3rd round. After two goalless draws against North Korea, there was a playoff in Rawalpindi, Pakistan , that won Iran. This qualified them for the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich .
