This article covers the Brazilian Olympic selection during the 1972 Summer Olympics .

Olympic qualification

In the preliminary group, which was played in a tournament in Colombia, Brazil and Argentina prevailed against Bolivia, Ecuador and Chile and advanced to the decisive final round. In this one started with a draw against hosts Colombia, which was followed by two wins against Argentina and Peru. This won the final round and qualified for the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich .

Games

In the preliminary round they started with a defeat against Denmark, which was followed by a draw against defending champion Hungary. In the last game Brazil was in a long-distance duel with the Hungarians for second place in the group, which meant the intermediate round. However, this set a victory against Iran, with a simultaneous defeat of the defending champion against Denmark. After the second defeat they finally closed the group in fourth and eliminated from the tournament.
