Otto Leopold Ehrenreich von Gloeden (born February 6, 1731 in Lemmersdorf , † September 24, 1801 in Schwedt / Oder ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

Otto Leopold Ehrenreich came from the Uckermark aristocratic family von Gloeden and was the son of Hans Georg von Gloeden (1705–1789) and Christiane Beate Fleischmann.

Military career

Gloeden began his career in the Prussian Army in 1747 as a Junker in the "Alt-Württemberg" dragoon regiment . In the Seven Years' War he advanced to secondary lieutenant on October 25, 1756 and took part in the battles near Prague , Breslau , Leuthen and Hochkirch as well as the sieges of Prague, Ölmütz and the battles near Reichenbach , Hoyerswerda and Maxen . He was wounded before Prague and Maxen.

On June 24, 1763 Gloeden was promoted to Prime Lieutenant and on June 12, 1769 to staff captain. His participation in the War of the Bavarian Succession followed. On June 7, 1783, he became the commander of the "von Kalckreuth" dragoon regiment, advanced to major and squadron chief on September 12, 1786 , lieutenant colonel on May 27, 1789 and finally on May 20, 1791 to colonel . At the review on June 4, 1792, he received the order Pour le Mérite . On the Prussian side, he also took part in the Kościuszko uprising , in particular in the Battle of Rawka and battles in front of Warsaw. On July 23, 1795 Gloeden was commissioned by the cavalry to carry out the business as an inspector of the Pomeranian and Neumärkische inspection. King Friedrich II transferred Gloeden on February 6, 1797 the command of the Dragoon Regiment "Pfalz-Zweibrücken" and finally promoted him to Major General on May 21, 1798.

After his death, Gloeden was buried in Schwedt on September 27th.

family

Gloeden married on July 8, 1784 in Treptow on the Rega Charlotte Wilhelmine Juliane von der Osten (1759-1800), daughter of Friedrich Wilhelm von der Osten (1721-1786) and Charlotte Henriette von Liebeherr (1734-1791). The marriage remained childless.
