LEDA / PGC 9823 (also NGC 978B ) is an elliptical dwarf galaxy of the Hubble type E / S0 in the constellation Triangulum in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 198 million light-years from the Milky Way and about 20,000 light-years across. Together with NGC 978 , it forms a bound galaxy pair.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 969 , NGC 970 , NGC 973 , NGC 974 .
The object was discovered by John Herschel on November 22nd, 1827 .
