The advanced training program enables teachers, school principals and other education specialists to deepen and expand their professional, didactic, social and personal skills. The main client for the advanced training courses is the Canton of Lucerne as the responsible higher-level school authority. Current continuing education courses are an important prerequisite for implementing school innovations (e.g. curriculum 21 ) and for keeping the quality of school and teaching services consistently high. In addition to advanced training courses, the PH Luzern also offers advanced training courses (CAS, DAS, MAS) and EDK-recognized additional training courses (ZA) for teachers and school administrators of all levels, managers, trainers / coaches and other specialists in the education sector. The content, form and scope of the offers are based on the needs of the public schools and the needs of the various target groups.
Research and Development
The four research institutes serve to expand knowledge and improve methods relating to teaching and learning. You work on behalf of public and private institutions. They are closely linked to teaching at the PH Luzern and enable students to participate in projects.
Institute for Professions and Teaching Research (IPU)
With a focus on educational processes in and through lessons, the research and development projects of the IPU deal with questions relating to the development of skills in the training and further education of teachers. (Video) analyzes of lessons enable insights into the complex interaction processes and generate knowledge about the realities of the lessons and their learning effectiveness.
Institute for School and Heterogeneity (ISH)
The ISH deals with questions that arise where the diversity of students becomes a central challenge for schools and teaching.
Institute for History Didactics and Cultures of Remembrance
The Institute for History Didactics and Cultures of Remembrance (IGE) at the Lucerne University of Education observes, researches and documents how people deal with the universe of the historical.
Institute for Didactics of Nature, Man, Society
The IF NMG is characterized by three main perspectives: didactics of geographic teaching, didactics of humanities and social science teaching and didactics of natural and technical science teaching. The three inter-perspective research groups are didactics of inter- and transdisciplinary teaching, learning materials and textbook research (incl. Learning laboratory) and didactics of extracurricular learning locations.
Research and Development Group Languages and Writing
The Research and Development Group Languages and Writing examines the processes of teaching and learning the school language and foreign languages as well as the acquisition of writing in schools and develops tools that support these processes.
