Pak Kun-hyok (born January 1, 1989 ) is a former North Korean ice hockey goalkeeper and current coach.

Career

Pak Kun-hyok appeared for the North Korean national team for the first time at the 2004 World Cup in Division II. Also in 2005 and 2006 , when he was not used, he was part of the North Korean squad. After he had made a significant contribution to the promotion at the 2008 World Cup in Division III with a catch quota of 93.2%, it was the second best quota after Philippe Lepage from Luxembourg , he returned to Division II in 2009 as the team without Point gain had to accept the descent. In the following year he played in Division III and rose with the team immediately. Since the North Koreans did not take part in the World Cup the following year for financial reasons, he also played in the lowest division in 2012 and 2013 , when he was voted the best player on his team. In both tournaments, the North Koreans missed promotion to Division II by only one place in second (2012 behind Turkey and 2013 behind South Africa ). At the Winter Asian Games 2007 he was fifth among eleven teams with North Korea.

At the club level, Pak played for Taesongsan in the North Korean ice hockey league .

Coaching career

At the 2015 World Cup , Pak acted as the goalkeeping coach of the North Koreans in Division III. After serving as assistant coach in Division II in 2017 , he was goalkeeping coach again in 2018 .
