Philippe Lepage (born December 21, 1986 in Luxembourg ) is a Luxembourg ice hockey goalkeeper who has been competing in the sixth class Swiss 3rd division at the Academic EC Zurich since 2017.
Career
Philippe Lepage began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth department of Hiversport Luxembourg . In 2002 he moved to the top Luxembourg club Tornado Luxembourg , which at the time, in addition to the Luxembourg League, initially also participated in the German league system and later in the French Division 3 . With the tornadoes, he became Luxembourg champion in 2003. In 2006 he moved to ESC Trier , which at that time played as a Rhineland-Palatinate club in the North Rhine-Westphalia regional league . After a year he was drawn to the league competitor Königsborner JEC . From there he moved in 2008 to the Bulldogs de Liège in the Belgian honor division and a year later to the Moselle Amnéville Hockey Club in the French division 1 , the second highest division in the country. After four years in neighboring countries, Lepage returned to Tornado Luxembourg and was in the French Division 3 for seven years . Since 2017 he has been playing in the sixth class Swiss 3rd division at the Academic EC Zurich.
International
For Luxembourg, Lepage already took part in the U18 World Championships in European Division II in 1999 and 2000 and in the U20 World Championships in Division III in 2003 . As a 16-year-old, he was in the men's national team at the 2003 World Cup , but was not used. He played his first World Cup games the following year , when he and his team competed in Division II. There they managed to win a point against Israel , but due to the 40 goals worse goal difference, they had conceded 70 goals in five games, the team around goalie Lepage had to start again in the lowest class. At the World Championships in 2005 , 2006 , 2007 , 2008 , when he was awarded the best catch quota as the best goalkeeper of the tournament, 2009 , 2010 , when he achieved both the second best catch quota and the second best conceded goal of the tournament behind the Greek Dalibor Ploutsis , 2011 , 2012 , when he was again elected the best goalkeeper of the tournament and achieved the second-best catch rate and the second lowest average goal conceded per game behind the Turkish Fikri Atalı , 2013 , 2016 and 2017 , when he was decisive for the promotion with the best capture rate and the lowest goal average contributed to his team, he was now on the ice for the team of the Grand Duchy in Division III.
At the 2018 World Cup , he played again in Division II after 14 years, but was unable to keep the class despite a 2-1 win against North Korea , in which Gilles Mangen was in goal instead , as the Asians had previously played against Mexico that the Luxembourgers had lost 1: 3, had defeated with 5: 2. The Letzeburgers lacked a goal against one of the two competing teams with equal points to keep the class.
