The district of Pachacutec is located in the province of Ica in the region of Ica in southwest Peru . The district was established on July 24, 1964. The district was named after Pachacútec Yupanqui , an Inca ruler in the 15th century.
The district has an area of 41.5 km². The 2017 census counted 7583 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 4534, in 2007 6000. The district administration is located in the 409 m high town of Pampa de Tate with 6222 inhabitants (as of 2017). Pampa de Tate is located 10 km south-southeast of the city center of the regional and provincial capital Ica .
Geographical location
The district of Pachacutec is centrally located in the province of Ica. The district lies in the plain east of the south-flowing Río Ica . In the desert region, large areas of agricultural products are grown with the help of irrigation.
The Pachacutec district is bordered to the west by the district Tate , on the north by the district Pueblo Nuevo , in the northeast on the district Yauca del Rosario and the south by the district of Santiago .
