Pape Cheikh Diop Gueye (born August 8, 1997 in Dakar ) is a Spanish - Senegalese football player who normally plays in the central midfield .

Career

Diop played at Club Internacional de la Amistad before moving to the youth department of Atlético Curuña Montañores in 2012 , where he only stayed for a year. In 2013 he moved to the youth team of Celta Vigo . His talent was quickly discovered and he was initially appointed to the squad of the second team for two years . In 2016 Diop moved to the A team. However, he already got some assignments with the professionals in the 2015/16 season . So it happened that he made his debut in the Primera División on December 12, 2015 . Back then in the 1-0 home win against Espanyol Barcelona , where he came on in the 87th minute for the injured Nolito . A few days later, Diop also played his first game in the Copa del Rey . Diop scored his first goal for the Spanish first division team to make it 3-1 against Granada CF on November 27, 2016. In the summer of 2017, he moved to the top French club Olympique Lyon , where he only played one role in the Ligue in the 2017/18 season 1 got. It was also his Ligue 1 debut. It was the 5-0 away win over FC Metz on April 8, 2018. Here, too, Diop came on towards the end of the game. In 2018/19 he got more appearances in Ligue 1, he came to twelve. He also made his Champions League debut this season . It was on September 19, 2018 against Manchester City in a 2-1 win. He even played from the start.
