Emre Mor (born July 24, 1997 in Copenhagen ) is a Turkish - Danish football player . He has been playing for the Spanish first division club Celta Vigo since August 2017 . For the 2019/20 season, Mor was loaned to Galatasaray Istanbul first . At the end of January 2020, the midfielder was loaned out to Olympiacos . After initially playing for the Danish junior national teams, he has been a Turkish national player since 2016 after changing associations .

Childhood and youth

Emre Mor was born to a Turkish woman from Macedonia and a Turk in the Copenhagen district of Brønshøj and lived there until he was twelve. His mother allowed him to drop out of high school when he was 16 to become a professional footballer .

Career

He started playing football in 2001 in Brønshøj BK's youth , before moving to Lyngby BK in 2006 . In December 2013, he completed a trial training at the French first division club AS Saint-Étienne , but there was no commitment.

FC Nordsjælland

During the winter break of the 2014/15 season, Mor moved to FC Nordsjælland's youth team . He made his professional debut on November 28, 2015 when he came on as a substitute for Gudmundur Thórarinsson in the 84th minute of the 0-1 on matchday 17 at Randers FC . On February 28, 2016, he scored his first goal in professional football in a 1-1 draw on matchday 19 in the away game against Viborg FF in the 10th minute with the goal to make it 1-0. Mor made 13 appearances and two goals in the 2015/16 season . FC Nordsjælland finished ninth at the end of the season.

Borussia Dortmund

For the 2016/17 season , Mor moved to the German Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund and signed a five-year contract. Mor made his European debut on 14 September 2016 when he came on as a substitute for Ousmane Dembélé in the 75th minute of a 6-0 win in the first group match in the UEFA Champions League against Legia Warsaw . He made his Bundesliga debut on September 17, 2016 when he came on for Ousmane Dembélé again in the 64th minute in the 6-0 win on matchday three against SV Darmstadt 98 . In the 88th minute he scored his first Bundesliga goal with the goal to the final score. Mor came to three appearances in the UEFA Champions League and was eliminated there with BVB in the quarter-finals against AS Monaco . In the league, he played twelve games (one goal), took third place with the team and won the DFB Cup in 2016/17 .

Celta Vigo

At the end of August 2017, Mor moved to the Spanish first division club Celta Vigo and signed a five-year contract. It was considered to be the most expensive purchase in club history to date. Emre Mor played his first game on September 10, 2017 in a 1-0 win on matchday three against Deportivo Alavés . He scored his first goal on October 16, 2017, when he took the 1-0 lead in a 5-2 away win on matchday eight against UD Las Palmas . On May 2, 2018, Emre Mor was suspended. By then he had completed 23 league appearances (one goal) and was also used four times in the Copa del Rey . In the new season , Mor completed two games in the Copa del Rey and ten league appearances, where he was temporarily excluded from team training.

Galatasaray Istanbul

On August 2, 2019, Galatasaray Istanbul announced the signing of Mor. The yellow-reds initially loaned the midfielder. Galatasaray had a purchase option of eight million euros, which was valid until May 31, 2020.

Olympiacos Piraeus

Denmark

Mor made his debut for the Danish U-17 national team on August 5, 2013 in a 4-0 win against Sweden in Hamar, Norway on the occasion of an international tournament. He played nine games for the U-17s, including the Syrenka Cup in Poland and qualifying for the 2014 U-17 European Championship . From September 2014 to May 2015 Mor played six games (one goal) for the Danish U-18 national team , and from June to November 2015 seven appearances for the Danish U-19 national team , including three games in the U-19 qualification European Championship 2016 in Germany , and scored two goals.

Turkey

In February 2016, Mor decided to play for the Turkish national teams in the future. The coach of the Turkish national team, Fatih Terim , had the necessary approval from Emre's imprisoned father get it.

On March 29, 2016, he made his debut for the Turkish U-21 national team in the 5-0 defeat at Štadión Myjava in Myjava against Slovakia . Then he was only used again in the third game against the Czech Republic. He was in the starting line-up and prepared the 1-0 for his team in the 10th minute. Despite winning the last game, Turkey was eliminated as one of the two worst thirds in the group. In Turkey's 3-1 friendly win against the Republic of Moldova on March 27, 2017, Mor scored his first international goal with the goal to make it 1-0.
