Parliamentary election in Slovenia 1990
The 1990 parliamentary elections in Slovenia took place in April 1990. In the election, the members of the State Assembly were determined. It was the first free and democratic election of Slovenia within the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia .
All eligible voters could decide on 78 of the 80 seats in the State Assembly. Two seats were reserved for representatives of the Hungarian and Italian minorities.
Election result
The United List of Social Democrats (SDP) won the first free election with 17.3%. This made it the strongest party in parliament. The Liberal Democracy of Slovenia (LDS) came in second with 14.5%.
