The parliamentary elections in Slovenia 2000 took place on October 15, 2000. In the election, the members of the State Assembly were redefined. 1.58 million eligible voters were able to decide on 88 of the 90 seats in parliament. Two seats were reserved for representatives of the Hungarian and Italian minorities.

Electoral system

The State Assembly was elected using proportional representation. There was a four percent threshold. The regular legislative period was four years.

Election result

The Liberal Democracy of Slovenia (LDS) won the election with 36.26%. It thus remained the strongest party and was also able to record the largest increase in votes. The second strongest force was the Social Democratic Party of Slovenia (SDSS) with 15.82%.
