Gains and losses
The 2004 parliamentary elections in Slovenia took place on October 3, 2004. In the election, the members of the State Assembly were redefined. 1.63 million eligible voters were able to decide on 88 of the 90 seats in parliament. Two seats were reserved for representatives of the Hungarian and Italian minorities.
Electoral system
The State Assembly was elected using proportional representation. There was a four percent threshold. The regular legislative period was four years.
Election result
The Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS) won the election with 29.08%, making it the strongest party. The Liberal Democracy of Slovenia (LDS), previously the strongest force, was still the second strongest party with 22.80%. She suffered the greatest losses in the election.
