from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Partidul Ecologist “Alianța Verde” din Moldova (abbreviation PEMAVE ; German  ecological party “Green Alliance” of Moldova ) is a green party in the Republic of Moldova .

PEMAVE was founded in 1992, making it one of the oldest existing parties in the Republic of Moldova, which gained independence from the Soviet Union in 1991 . Its roots go back to the ecological movement that - similar to other countries and regions of the Warsaw Pact at the time  - had formed in the last years of the real socialist regime in the Moldovan SSR . This stood up not only against the destruction of the environment, but also against the totalitarian regime.

Although the party played practically no role in parliament, it was able to actively participate in the country's environmental policy in the first decade of independent Moldova. From 1990 to 1994 and from 1998 to 2000 a representative of the party headed the national environmental agency.

In the parliamentary elections in 1994 , PEMAVE received just over 7,000 votes (0.4%). In the 1998 elections she entered as part of the electoral alliance Blocul electoral "Convenția Democrată din Moldova" , which received 19.4% of the vote and 26 seats. In the following three parliamentary elections in 2001 , 2005 and April 2009 , the party did not run again. In the early elections in July 2009 , she participated as one of eight parties. The party hardly plays a role at the local level either. In the 2007 local elections, she received 0.7% of the vote in the capital, Chișinău .

In terms of foreign policy, the party advocates the Republic of Moldova joining the EU, orienting itself towards the states of the Western Balkans .

PEMAVE is chaired by Vladimir Braga . The party is a member of the European Green Party .
