Paul Albrecht (Major General)

Paul Albrecht (born January 22, 1856 in Haus Kohlhaus, Westphalia ; † July 11, 1940 ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

He was the son of the later lieutenant colonel Anton Albrecht and his wife Franziska nee Rive. After attending grammar school in Bonn , Albrecht joined a cadet corps . In 1874 he became Second Lieutenant in the 8th Rhenish Infantry Regiment No. 70 of the Prussian Army . In 1884 he was promoted to prime lieutenant and in 1889 to captain . As such, he was commanded in 1890 to serve in the 1st Army Department in the War Ministry . From 1893 he worked as a company commander . Albrecht took part in the German expedition to China in 1900/01. From April 18, 1903 to January 26, 1908 he was Colonel in command of the infantry regiment "Bremen" (1st Hanseatic) No. 75 . He was then promoted to major general to the officers of the army and on February 18, 1908 appointed commander of the 19th Infantry Brigade in Poznan . Due to illness, he handed over the command on July 27, 1908 to Colonel Eduard von Westernhagen . Since his health did not improve, Albrecht was put up for discussion in August and, on the occasion of his departure, was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves.

During the First World War , Albrecht was reused as a ZD officer and was in command of the 70th Landwehr Infantry Brigade.

In Bremen he retired.
