Paul Fouad Tabet

Paul Fouad Naïm Tabet (born November 28, 1929 in Maarab , Lebanon , † July 20, 2009 ) was Maronite Archbishop and Apostolic Nuncio .

Life

Paul Fouad Tabet was ordained priest in the Maronite rite on December 22, 1956 . From 1978 to 1980 he was the representative of the Curia in the West Indies ( Antilles ); he was also made an honorary prelate. From 1980 to 1984 he was a delegate in the Antilles.

Pope John Paul II appointed him titular archbishop pro hac vice of Sinna on February 9, 1980 and appointed him Apostolic Pro-Nuncio of the West Indies ( Bahamas , Barbados , Jamaica , Trinidad and Tobago ). He was ordained bishop on March 30, 1980 by Anton Peter Khoraiche , Maronite Patriarch of Antioch ; Co-consecrators were Bishop Chucrallah Harb and Bishop Roland Aboujaoudé . In 1984 he was also appointed pro-nuncio in Belize , and in 1984 he was appointed pro-nuncio in Nigeria . In 1991 he moved to the Vatican State Secretariat . In 1996 he became Permanent Representative of the Holy See to the United Nations Office in Geneva, succeeding Justo Mullor García . In 1996 he became nuncio in Greece , succeeding Luciano Storero ; he was succeeded by Patrick Coveney .

He was a member of the Honorary Commission of the Bios Prize Award of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees .

In 2005 Pope John Paul II granted his age-related resignation.
