Paul Lähne

Paul Lähne (born January 3, 1902 in Sangerhausen ; † September 6, 1990 ) was a German KPD functionary, SED politician and FDGB functionary. From 1946 to 1949 he was chairman of the mining industry union in the FDGB and 1949/1950 Minister of Economics and Transport in Saxony-Anhalt .

Life

After attending primary school , Lähne trained as an electric welder. From 1916 to 1939 he worked in mining and in various metal companies. In 1919 he joined the German Agricultural Workers' Association. He was elected shop steward and works council. In 1925 he became a member of the KPD. From 1925 to 1933 he was a functionary of the KPD, the Revolutionary Trade Union Opposition (RGO) and the Red Front Fighters Association (RFB) in Halle-Merseburg . At times he was a member of the Halle-Merseburg district leadership of the KPD and the RGO.

After the " seizure of power " by the National Socialists in 1933, he continued to participate illegally in politics. In 1933/34 he was imprisoned in Lichtenburg concentration camp .

After 1945, Lähne was a full-time FDGB functionary. In 1946 he became a member of the SED. From June 1946 to April 1949 he was chairman of IG Bergbau. From 1947 to 1952 he was also a member of the FDGB federal board. From March 1948 to April 1949 he was also a member of the German People's Council . From April 1949 to November 1950 Lähne was Minister for Economics and Transport in Saxony-Anhalt. From 1951 to 1954 he trained as an engineer, then from 1954 to 1970 he was director of the technical vocational school in Ammendorf . Since 1974 Lähne has been a member of the working group of merited union veterans of the central executive committee of IG Bergbau.
