Willi Dieker

Willi Dieker (born February 13, 1904 in Lerbeck ; † April 16, 1980 in Rostock ) was a German politician of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED) in the Soviet occupation zone of Germany (SBZ) and the early German Democratic Republic (GDR). From 1946 to 1949 he was Minister of Economics for the State of Saxony-Anhalt and was deposed in the course of the Conti affair . Later he was plant manager in various factories in the GDR.

Life

After elementary school , the worker's son Dieker became a surveying technician at the sewer construction office in Magdeburg . From 1924 he attended the Heimvolkshochschule in Tinz in Thuringia . In 1925 he joined the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD). From 1929 to 1931 Dieker worked as an editor for the Volksstimme in Magdeburg and other social democratic newspapers. From 1933 he was employed by the Saalfelder Volksblatt . From 1933 he was a correspondent and economic manager in various large printing plants.

Dieker offered resistance during the dictatorship of National Socialism and was temporarily imprisoned in April and September / October 1933. Continuous checks by the Gestapo followed . In October 1944 he was arrested again for illegal work and charged with “preparing for high treason”. There was no conviction until the end of the Second World War .

In the meantime he was operations manager of the VEB Feuerungs- und Reservoir Construction Koethen . In 1960 Dieker retired.
